BIS 541 Data Mining and Knowledge Acquisition
In recent years, a huge amount of data have been collected and stored in databases Now there is a demand coming from almost all disciplines to convert this data into information and knowledge. In the current competitive environment, In all functional areas of a business to make high quality and instantaneous decisions at various levels of management as well as better recommendations to customers.
This course introduces the methodology and techniques of knowledge discovery from large databases, starting with data understanding and preprocessing to improve quality of data, then followed by functionalities of data mining mainly clustering, association, classification, and prediction. Theoretical concepts covered in lectures are supplemented with lab applications of business-related problems.
