Prof. Aslı Sencer is a faculty member in the Department of Management Information Systems at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey. Prof. Sencer obtained her bachelor, master and doctoral degrees from Middle East Technical University, Bilkent University and Boğaziçi University in the field of Industrial Engineering.
Prof. Sencer focuses her academic research in the areas of analytical decision making methodology, decision support systems, supply chain management, business process management, and operational management. In recent years, she has focused on the disruptive effects of digitalization in these fields.
She attends to academic conferences as well as reputable professional events in the area of digital transformation and industry 4.0. Her work is published in well-known international journals and has received several academic awards at Boğaziçi University. Parallel with her academic performance, she enthusiastically teaches decision support systems, information systems, operations management, supply chain management, analytical decision making, business process management classes, and has received outstanding teaching performance awards.
In belief that the theory and practice should be aligned, Prof. Sencer gives corporate training seminars to executives at Mercedes, Toyota in the automotive sector; Yapı Kredi Bank, ING Bank in the finance sector; PTT, Yurtiçi Kargo in the logistics sector; Yıldız Holding-G2M in the food sector, and Türk Telekom in the telecommunication sector.
In June 2016 she co-chaired the 24th. European Conference on Information Systems, ECIS in Istanbul. She also co-chaired the ECIS-CIO Symposium with 15 CIOs from established global and Turkish companies.
In Fall 2018 she spent her sabbatical at Northeastern University, Boston, as a visiting professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering.
Prof. Sencer is one of the founders and current President of the Turkey Chapter of Association for Information Systems-AIS, which is the largest association in the world for Management Information Systems.
